Hall Effect Gear Tooth Sensors/
Gear Tooth Speed Sensors

Hall Effect Gear Tooth

The ability to measure the position and speed of a rotating shaft is necessary to the functioning of several types of machinery. Hall effect Gear tooth sensors are used in applications such as:

Automotive and Heavy Duty Vehicles

  • Camshaft and crankshaft speed

  • Sprocket speed and position

  • Chain link conveyor speed/distance

  • Transmission speed

  • Stop motion detector Tachometers

  • High speed low cost proximity

  • Anti-skid/traction control

  • Tachometers, counters.

Industrial Areas

  • Sprocket speed

  • Chain link conveyor speed

  • Stop motion detector

  • High speed low cost proximity

  • Tachometers, counters.

Other Segments as exercise equipment sport devices, CNC machine tools, Transmission speed

Hall Effect Gear Tooth Speed Sensors are the best choice for a wide variety of applications. GTS Sensors may substitute optical, inductive proximity, Variable Reluctance and other competitive technologies.

BB Automacao Inc. supplies a variety of Gear Tooth Speed sensors (CYGTS101DC, CYGTS99, CYGTS211, CYGTS212, etc.) for speed measurement with applications to machines, equipments, motorcycles, automobile industry and instruments etc. We are specialized in design, development and production of Hall-effect sensors and can offer also custom-made Hall sensors for your applications.

There are other speed sensing technogies such as Inductive / Eddy-current killed oscilator, etc.

Magnetic Targets

Most of hall efect speed sensors sense through the passing of a magnetized target affixed to a shaft. This target may be a number of discrete magnets, with pole faces to the sensor, or as a number of poles magnetized onto a ring magnet. The sensing of the target results in an output of short pulses, each one corresponding to the passing of a magnet. The cycle of the waveform is dependent on:

  • Size and magnets distribution
  • Magnet material and geometry
  • Operating airgap
  • Operating and releasing points

Hall Effect Speed Sensors Categories

One way to compare the hall effect speed sensors is the combination of sensing and thresholds possibilities

  • Single point/fixed threshold
  • Single point/dynamic threshold
  • Differential/fixed threshold
  • Differential/dynamic threshold

Other marketing names you will find for our sensors across the industries:

Speed Sender, Speed Sending Unit, Hall-Effect Sender, Pulse Generator, Signal Generator, Rotary Transducer, Pulse Sender, Electronic Speedometer Sender, Cruise Control Sender, Speed Pick Up, Magnetic Induction Sender, Magnetic Speed Sender, Magnetic Sensor, Magnetic Pick Up, Tachometer Sender, Gear Tooth Sensor, Hall Effect Sensor, etc.
