Magnetic Targets
Most of hall efect speed sensors sense through the passing of a
magnetized target affixed to a shaft. This target may be a number of
discrete magnets, with pole faces to the sensor, or as a number of
poles magnetized onto a ring magnet. The sensing of the target
results in an output of short pulses, each one corresponding to the
passing of a magnet. The cycle of the waveform is dependent on:
- Size and magnets distribution
- Magnet material and geometry
- Operating airgap
- Operating and releasing points
Hall Effect Speed Sensors Categories
One way to compare the hall effect speed sensors is the
combination of sensing and thresholds possibilities
- Single point/fixed threshold
- Single point/dynamic threshold
- Differential/fixed threshold
- Differential/dynamic threshold
