Hall Effect Voltage Sensors / Voltage Switches

Hall Voltage sensors are based on Hall Effect and magnetic compensation principle. These Voltage sensors can be used for measuring DC and AC voltages with different wave forms. They have high electric isolation, high reliability, good overload capability, small sizes and can be applied to switched mode power supplies, UPS, overvoltage protection, electric power network monitoring, AC frequency conversion servo-motors, etc.

Voltage Sensors Voltage Switches High-Voltage Sensors BB Automacao Inc. Voltage Transducer

Hall Effect Voltage Transducers - Operation principle

  1. A very small current limited by a series resistor is taken from the voltage to be measured and is driven through the primary coil.

  2. The magnetic flux created by the primary current IP is balanced by a complementary flux produced by driving a current through the secondary windings.

  3. A hall device and associated electronic circuit are used to generate the secondary (compensating) current that is an exact representation of the primary voltage.

  4. The primary resistor (R1) can be incorporated or not in the Voltage transducer.
